4 Affordable Ivy Bridge Ultrabooks Under $799

 3. Lenovo IdeaPad U310 (13.3″, $749)

Like the U410, Lenovo’s IdeaPad U310 is the refreshed version of the previous U300. The U310 is slightly smaller with a 13.3″ screen at 1366×768 resolution than the U410, it also lacks the discrete graphics of the latter. The weight is 1.7kg and thickness is 18mm.

Again, as with the U410, we don’t know the exact configuration for the U310 with $749 price, but here’s what you’re likely to see: Intel Core i3-3217U CPU at 1.4GHz, 4GB of fast 1600MHz RAM, a 320GB HDD with 32GB SSD cache for added performance. Like the VAIO T13, you can push the HDD up to 500GB if you’d like and you’ll probably be able to keep it under $799. The U310 is available in three colors: graphite gray, aqua blue, and cherry blossom (the latter two are unique from the U410 colors).

Ports include the following: 1xUSB 2.0m 2xUSB 3.0, 3.5mm headphone, full HDMI, full SD, and ethernet/LAN (RJ45) port.

You can find detailed specifications at the U310 tracking page in our Ultrabook database.

Like the U410 the U310 should be available by the end of June in time for back to school. Keep an eye on Lenovo’s U310 product page for availability. Also note that Lenovo will be offering a non-Ultrabook version of the U310 starting at $599 if you need to go even cheaper. They will likely achieve this lower price by removing the 32GB performance cache (as well as some other Ultrabook-specific features).

4. Toshiba Satellite U845 (14″, $749)

Toshiba’s U845 Ultrabook has a 14″ screen and starts at $749. You can optionally add a backlit keyboard which will probably add $20 to the price. The U845 is sometimes also called the U840.

The U845 will become available starting on June 24th (just a few days away). It comes equipped with a Core i3 Ivy Bridge processor, a 500GB HDD with 16GB SSD performance cache, and 4GB of RAM (the speed has yet to be specified). The 14″ screen has a 1366*768 resolution.

For ports you’ll find 1xUSB 3.0, 2xUSB 2.0, full VGA, full HDMI, full SD card slot, and an ethernet/LAN (RJ45) port.

The U845 is 1.7kg in weight and 19.9mm thick.

You can find detailed specifications at the U845 tracking page in our Ultrabook database.

Keep your eyes on Toshiba’s site for U845 availability in the next few days.

Bonus! See the Ivy Bridge version of Acer’s new M5 Ultrabook here for $779, includes an optical drive and discrete graphics.
