Hi Steve,

I'm afraid I gave all my Love Hearts away at IDF, most of them to the Hackathon students :) I had to use copious amounts of tea instead! Thanks for my award, I am honoured!

Best Regards,

On AOAC, this is the Microsoft presentation that i've taken onboard. It shows 'certification' for AOAC and I think the question about X86 architecture was asked. MS said it's not certified at launch. It's a great presentation to watch anyway.
http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/BUILD/BUILD2011/HW-456T
The certification part comes at 34 mins 11 seconds.

I'm convinced that Smart Connect is NOT AOAC although there may be hooks that allow you to work like it's AOAC.

I also heard that AOAC needs an active, idle state of something like 300mW. Only Haswell in 2013 can achieve that. (Atom CloverTrail CPUs wil achieve it in October - I'm not sure if they are certified but we should watch carefully for devices like the ASUS Vivo Tab and HP Envy XT.)

Dear Chippy,

Thanks so much for the "Time to Kill" Award and it means a lot. As we have put so much sleepless time into it, it means a lot to receive this award.

Hello Chippy,

Totally thrilled about the 'Brick Wall' award :)

We are using today and tomorrow to push in some more tweaks. It is hard to make a build right away and sit idle. Our motto is exactly the opposite of "don't fix it if it ain't broke" ;)

A longish side note on AOAC & Smart Connect that you noted in your post: There are still some mails going back and forth between us and the Intel dev support folks. One of them said this: "AOAC is Microsoft’s terminology for the Connected Standby capability and I see Intel Smart Connect Technology as the enabler for AOAC on Ultrabooks." Looks like a jolly mixup of terminology between the Microsoft & Intel naming departments :)

Until then, Lord God made all AOACs equal, going by this line "Intel® Smart Connect Technology (ISCT) brings Always On Always Connected (AOAC) capabilities to Intel® Architecture based Ultrabooks and laptop platforms." seen on an Intel Software site post - http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2012/06/19/developing-for-intel-smart-connect-technology-isct

That's it for now. Have a great time with the judging ahead.
