Sony Vaio Fit T13A Flip Review

Posted on 24 November 2013

On first glance at IFA in September [article + video] I wasn’t overly impressed with the Sony Vaio Fit 13A Flip (let’s just call it the Sony Vaio Flip 13 shall we?) The wedge shape felt quite thick in tablet mode and the finish didn’t feel like quality. I’ve got a second chance to look at this 2-in-1 now though and it feels much, much better than the first time around. […]

Sony Vaio Pro 13 Ultrabook Review

Posted on 15 October 2013

A 1KG Ultrabook is an engineering feat. The Toshiba Z830, at 1.1KG still surprises 2 years after launch. Since then though we haven’t seen many attempt to break the 2.2 pound mark. Only the NEC Lavie Z, an expensive Asia-only model, and the almost unknown Inhon Blade Carbon have launched in the 13.3” bracket. The Sony Vaio Pro 13 is a far more globally available product though. It’s not only […]

Harris Beach Ultrabook Review

Posted on 26 August 2013

I’m very lucky to be one of the few people with a Haswell-based Ultrabook. There are even fewer people that have a Connected-Standby capable Haswell Ultrabook and when you add 3G, FullHD, NFC, GPS, HD5000 and a great looking build, you’re talking about leading edge. What a shame this Ultrabook isn’t available to buy. Developers will have access to it (I’m working on getting information as to how developers can […]

MyDigitalSSD BP4 Review and Upgrade How-To

Posted on 12 June 2013

MyDigitalSSD sent over two of their BulletProof 4 SSDs for testing recently so I immediately took the opportunity to upgrade an  older Toshiba Z830 Ultrabook. The difference was noticeable, but not as noticeable as the upgrade on the Acer Aspire V5-122P– an AMD-based low-cost Windows 8 touchscreen sub-notebook which was running a 500GB spinning hard drive. The difference has been amazing! I also attempted to upgrade the Samsung Series 5 […]

Dell Latitude 6430U First Impressions. Solid, Productive, Possibly the Ultrabook I Should Buy

Posted on 25 April 2013

The Dell Latitude 6430U is here and under my fingers. 1366×768 and a 36Wh battery is a shocking thing to be seeing on a new Ultrabook in 2013 but wait because it turns out that if you don’t like that you can change it, and that’s one of the key features of this device. It’s aimed at business users and because of that Dell is offering a huge range of […]
