Entry-Level Zenbook Infinity UX301 comes with Reduced Specs. High-End Model Gets Full Review

Zenbook Inifinity

There’s no doubt that the ASUS Zenbook Infinity is a fantastic Ultrabook. It’s the most popular Ultrabook in our database and has been for a while now. It looks absolutely fantastic, weighs around 1400 grams and packs some serious specifications. It’s also expensive, unless you go for the low-end version, the UX301LA-C4003H.

Sony Vaio Duo 13 (Haswell) vs. Asus UX31E (Sandybridge) Sleep and Wake Comparison [video]

sony vaio duo 13 (haswell) vs asus ux31e (sandybridge) sleep and wake comparison

Today I’m pitting the Sony Vaio Duo 13 (third-gen Haswell Ultrabook) against the Asus UX31E (first-gen Sandybridge Ultrabook) in sleep and wake times. One of Intel’s goals for the Ultrabook platform was to eventually reach a point of instant-on, just like a tablet or smartphone, with Haswell, they’ve finally done it.

#2 Laptop at Amazon.com is a Touch Ultralight at $425

The ASUS Vivobook X202E has been the top-selling touch notebook for a while but a recent price reduction has put it at #2 in the whole notebook category at Amazon.com

asus vivobook X202E

The X202E (AKA S200 in other geographies) is not quite an Ultrabook as it doesn’t have a hybrid hard drive. It also has a small battery that limits its mobility but apart from that it’s an attractive sub-notebook that defines a new category of affordable touch and highly mobile laptops. The Acer Aspire V5-122P is a similar device in the same category. It’s amazing to think that we were looking at $1200 or more for similar devices just a few years ago.

Buy at Amazon US for $425.99

Asus Teases ‘We Transform’ for Computex 2013 — Expect Haswell Designs

asus computex 2013 teaser

Asus loves their teaser videos. Last week they put out a teaser about their forthcoming appearance at the annual Computex conference in Taipei, Taiwan. There’s not much to go on except for their slogan ‘We Transform’. With their commitment to convertible designs over the last year, we expect to see more of the same (a good thing). This time around, expect thinner and lighter devices with better battery life thanks to Intel’s forthcoming Haswell processors.

Asus UX51VZ with 2880×1620 Display; Asus Quietly Joins the Retina Club with an Ultrabook Alternative

asus ux51vz retina display

Back in June of 2012, Apple revealed their MacBook Pro with ‘retina’ display — a super high resolution panel. Since then we haven’t an answer in the Ultrabook or Ultrabook-alternative world by anything higher than 1920×1080 (likely due to Windows’ poor scaling support). It looks like Asus will be the first to make a comparable offering. A new variant of the UX51 popped up quietly on Amazon.de sporting a 15.6 inch 2880 x 1620 panel.
