I’ve just sent back the Fujtsu Q702 hybrid. It was a great, productive all-rounder (Review here) and is also available with Core i3 and without VPro for much the same price as the Ultrabook I’ve just started testing. The Sony also fits many of the same user profiles as the Q702. It’s fitted with a digitizer, converts to a tablet and has a great set of ports. My first impressions are generally positive.
Sony has now officially revealed their Windows 8 Ultrabook lineup; release date for all products is on the 26th as the new OS launches. There’s the Duo 11 slider hybrid and the T13 (with touchscreen variants). Prices have been confirmed and Sony has dropped the non-touchscreen model of the T13 down to $669 making it one of the most attractive value Ultrabooks on the market. Whether or not the will make a Windows 8 or touchscreen appearance has yet to be seen
Revealing the optical track pointer and a design that’s slimmer than I expected, the port locations, backlight on the keyboard and lots more. As a tablet it’s ‘pretty thin and light’ says Johannes. It still weighs 1.2KG though so as a pure tablet, it’s a complete bloater!
My thoughts – Why aren’t we seeing news about HSDPA/4G for the Vaio DUO? This is clearly an ultra mobile PC but without 3G, it’s missing something in my opinion. Still, enough people have Android phones that can help out with a little hotspot love. I love the look of that track pointer! Personally, I’m more of a fan of detachable screens which is why I’ve got my eye on the ASUS. I’ll bet it’s going to be cheaper than 1200 Euros for a Core i3 too!
With less than 5 seconds of commentary, Sony just announced the Duo 11 at IFA. Luckily we have specs, images, prices and availability…
Update: Sony Vaio Duo now in the database here.
